MALAYSIAN SKILLS CERTIFICATE IN PASTRY PRODUCTION (HT-014-2:2011 & HT-014-3:2011)
•  Pastry Cook - Level 2
•  Chef De Partie - Pastry - Level 3

Introduction

LEVEL 2 : A Pastry Cook is designated to work and assist the Pastry Chef of a Pastry kitchen in a Hotel, Restaurant or other commercials food production unit.

LEVEL 3 : A Chef De Partie - Pastry is designated to work and assist the Pastry Chef of a Pastry kitchen in a Hotel, Restaurant or other commercials food production unit.

Admission Requirements (Minimum Qualification)

  • 17-45 years old
  • Able to speak and write in Malay or English
  • Posses a lower level of MSC to apply for a higher level MSC in the same field / area.
  • (Level 2) SPM/SPMV school leaver
  • (Level 3) Completed Levels 2 (HT-014-2:2011)

Pre-Requisites

  • (Level 2) The minimum entry qualifications are those with interest to work in the area and hold Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).
  • (Level 2) The candidate must be able to read, write and possess applied skill and have interest in the Pastry Production. 
  • (Level 3) The minimum entry qualifications are those with interest to work in the area as mentioned above and hold Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Level 2 in Pastry Production.
  • (Level 3) The candidate must be able to read, write and possess applied skill and have interest in the Pastry Production.

Duties
LEVEL 2 : The students will learn fruit engrave, local favourite, basic sponge, butter cake, cake decoration, tart and pie products, basic cheese cake, cookies, Christmas items,puddings and meringue.

LEVEL 3 : The students will learn fruit engrave, local favourite, basic sponge, butter cake, cake decoration, tart and pie products, basic cheese cake, cookies, Christmas items,puddings and meringue.

Duration

1 ½ years (Level 2: 6 months)
(Level 3:12 months)

There are excellent prospects in the private sector due to shortages of hands-on experts in food preparation services. In the public sector there are lack of professional and well experienced pastry production staff.
